Waste Management Generously Assists
Before the smoldering embers were fully extinguished, and while we were still reeling from the shock of the fire, Waste Management generously stepped up and offered to assist St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club in any way it could. Bill Dyer, with Waste Management’s Business Solutions Group, reached out to our incoming commodore, Michael Wynn, and conveyed the company’s offer to provide dumpsters and assistance with hauling and disposal of the debris from the damaged clubhouse. We gratefully accepted that offer and during the recent demolition, Waste Management, at no cost to the Club, coordinated the reclamation of all concrete debris, which Waste Management hauled to one of its partners for recycling. Also, at no cost to the Club, Waste Management hauled and disposed of all the “special waste” generated by the fire (so characterized because of the possibility of old asbestos in some of the burned rumble). The demolition of the old clubhouse generated over eight loads of special waste! During the two weeks it took to clear the damaged clubhouse and grounds, Waste Management generously donated its equipment, employee time, resources, industry contacts, and expertise. St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club is very thankful for Waste Management’s extraordinary kindness and generous support.
